Eastside Mingle at Ultra Lounge!

It's time for another Eastside Mingle! Ultralounge is the sleek, chic companion space within The Parlor with a Vegas-style sophistication all its own.
This posh lounge is lined with plush booth seating, made private with hanging veils of nickel plated beads, softened with ambient spot lighting, chill with downtempo beats from a dedicated deejay booth, and engaging with a catwalk and banquet area for "haute events" and catered affairs.

This is the perfect spot for our Eastside Mingle as we sip, savor, mix and mingle.

Reward yourself after a hard day's work! Come down for a cocktail and meet some new & interesting people. Tell your friends and join us!

RSVP: It's optional to RSVP for this event since it's free, but it would be really great and help us get an idea of how many to expect! Then we could tell the bar so they know how many to expect and their staff can prepare. Thanks!

BACKGROUND: This is a free event. It's the most unstructured event in that the group just meets at the selected bar, like a large "bar night." If this is your first Space City Mixer event, this is a large one and there isn't much structure - people just arrive, get a cocktail and start mingling. Otherwise, the other events are smaller, more structured and conducive to meeting people for the first time.
A nice SCM Organizer will also be standing at a table near the entrance. If you're new and/or have questions about SCM, come on by. We'd love to meet you and introduce you to some other guests.

Come on down and meet some great people on the Eastside!

RED TABLE BACKGROUND: This is one of SCM's most popular events!
This is a great event to attend by yourself because your table mates will be changing throughout the meal. It works like this. At the restaurant, guests are seated around several different tables in the format of "male-female." After the first course, men switch tables; after the second course women switch tables. In so doing, all guests will have their "scenery" altered three times throughout the dinner. This means during each course, guests will be surrounded by new guests. This is a perfect way to meet new & interesting people while enjoying a scrumptious dinner.
This is a recommended an event for SCM Newcomers too.

Mix & Shake!

Come out to Space City Mixer's newest fabulous event, the Mix & Shake!

If you remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons or if there were days where the homework just HAD to wait until the ABC Afterschool Special was over, then this event is for you.
If you have ever called 867-5309, if you remember when "partying like it was 1999" seemed soooo far away or if you still ponder why Smurfette was the only female Smurf, then it is definitely time to come party with us!

This month's Mix & Shake will take place at Bandits Bar on Denny Way.
If you're hungry, the tamales are out of this world. If you're thirsty, try the Blazin' Saddle! As this bar has a "wild west" theme, you are encouraged (but are not required) to don your finest western attire. Dress up as the sheriff, a cowboy/cowgirl, Annie Oakley or (to get on the bartender's good side) a wild west bandit.
The best dressed male and the best dressed female will each receive a free ticket to the Lock & Key Encounter on June 19th.

BACKGROUND: This is a monthly free event, and is one of Space City Mixer's more unstructured offerings. Essentially we select a bar, everyone shows up on the date and then we order a cocktail and socialize with those around us. The suggested age range of this event is 20's and early 30's.

Space City Mixer is now on Facebook! This will make it easier for you to reconnect with the fabulous people you meet at this event. Be sure to join the Space City Mixer Facebook Group and then add yourself to the guest list of the Mix & Shake event page.

If you grew up in the 80's or 90's, come play with us!

Pub Mixer at Hula Hula!

Welcome to Space City Mixer's signature and longest running event!
It's called the "Pub Mixer" and it's simple: each month we pick a new bar and then we meet up for cocktails and conversation! It's simple, it's free. It's an easy way to meet new SCM members and try a new bar.

The location for this month is Hula Hula on Lower Queen Anne!

"Don Ho would definitely feel welcome in this kitsch-drenched lounge, which offers all the requisite elements of a good Polynesian bar: Puffer fish lamps, thatched grass huts, bamboo accents, beach loungers doubling as benches and plenty of wooden tiki god statues. Drinkers can go traditional (think mai tais) or pick a contemporary cocktail. Pairs will dig the Volcano Bowl, a lava red concoction that easily serves two, anchored with a flaming shot of Barcardi 151." - Citysearch

BACKGROUND: This is a monthly, free event and one of SCM's more unstructured offerings. Essentially we select a bar, everyone shows up on the date and then we order a cocktail and socialize with those around us. It's often over 100 people. This is a great event for someone who likes lots of people but if you are a newcomer and prefer more structure for your first SCM event, you might consider one of our other events (Red Table Dinners, Women's Brunches, Game Nights, etc).

An SCM Organizer will also be standing at a table near the entrance. If you're new and/or have questions about SCM, come on by. We'd love to meet you and introduce you to some other guests. Also, if you haven't heard yet...all newcomers get a small star to wear (we hand them out). So if you see a newcomer wearing a star, make sure to introduce yourself and say hello - I'm sure they'd appreciate a friendly hello!

Sea Kayaking in the San Juans

Space City Mixer is going kayaking!!!
This is going to be a memorable experience for all.
"Eagles and Orcas" - the San Juan Island Kayak Tour!

With 175-forested islands surrounded by crystal-green waters and snow-capped mountains, the San Juan Islands are an idyllic sea-kayaking destination. The tours is conducted off the west side of San Juan Island - the prime area for viewing over 80 Orca whales and other wildlife including bald eagles, dall porpoise and harbor seals.

Upon arrival from Anacortes to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, we'll be met by an Outdoor Odysseys guide and van. We'll take you out to San Juan County park on the west side of the island. After a thorough dry land orientation covering paddling technique, safety and boat handling we'll get on the water. We use double kayaks so Beginners are welcome.

We'll kayak for about an hour and a half and then stop for a nice lunch (provided) at a beautiful little cove just south of Lime Kiln State Park that has outstanding views of the Olympic Mountains. After our break we'll continue paddling and exploring along the rocky shores of San Juan Island before returning to San Juan County Park.

After a sublime day on the water viewing the wonders of the universe, we'll get you back to Friday Harbor in the late afternoon. You'll have time to grab some dinner and a cold one at the local brew pub next to the ferry terminal before walking on the 6:45 PM ferry back to Anacortes.

Lock & Key Party 20/30s June

Welcome to a VERY popular SCM event! It's called the Lock and Key Party!

The Lock and Key Party is a very interactive social mixing game where each person tries to find their matching hardware amongst the group of participants. It works like this . . . Every female attendee receives a lock. Every male attendee receives a key. The object is to find the Lock that fits the Key and the Key that fits the Lock!

This one will for a recommended age range. The age range for this is 20's and 30's!

For two hours, you try and meet each person at the event, getting to know them and of course, trying to match the lock and key. The object is to find as many -Matches- as possible. When you find a Match, you'll visit the Lock & Key Station, there you'll both enter your names into the Prize Drawing! Then you'll receive new Locks and Keys, and you'll go out again to try your new Hardware and find additional Matches. The more Matches that you find, the more times your name is entered into the Prize Drawing.

You will not go away from this event only meeting a few people...here, you will have the opportunity to meet them all! Come out and try a Lock & Key Party - you'll end the night with scores of new friends and possibly more. Come with friends or alone as soon as it starts, you will quickly be meeting people as the participants approach you. See for yourself what the excitement is all about!

Midwest Summer Corn Chowder

This is a group cooking session followed by a scrumptious dinner in Anita's private and very charming home on Mercer Island. "Cooking With Anita" is Anita's business that she's been successfully executing for 12 years and has regular customers such as Microsoft and REI.

The evening works like this...when you arrive, you'll be welcomed with light nibbles. Then the group is divided into cooking teams and the prepartion begins. Everthing needed, cooking utensils and ingredients are in front of you. Anita will float from team to team answering questions as they come up. Once all the courses are prepared and ready, everyone is seated around a table decorated with flowers & an array of candles...and we enjoy the delicious dinner that we've created together! The rest of the evening is enjoyed around a lively table, consuming what we've prepared and getting to know each other. There's plenty of food for everyone. Lock & Key Party, 30s and 40s July

The age range for this is 30's and 40's!

Pub Mixer at Stix!

Welcome to Space City Mixer's signature and longest running event!
It's called the "Pub Mixer" and it's simple: each month we pick a new bar and then we meet up for cocktails and conversation! It's simple, it's free. It's an easy way to meet new SCM members and try a new bar.

The location for this month is Stix Billiards & Brew on Lake Union.
Outfitted with plush leather sofas, low-hanging lamps and 10 pool tables, this classic billiards hall on Lake Union caters to 20- and 30-something young professionals seeking to revisit their college days. An on-site microbrewery, displayed at the end of the bar, provides a selection of house pints with pool-themed names like Rack 'Em Red and Bank Shot Bitter. The menu features tried-and-true standards like burgers, deli sandwiches and snack-worthy appetizers....it also has a sweeping and beautiful view of Lake Union.

This sailing trip is three hours long and is perfect for groups of friends, couples, and singles as you will all have plenty of time and room to move about the boat and meet folks!

TIPS:
It is colder out on the boat than on land. You will be very happy if you bring a warm jacket even if it looks sunny during the day. It's also helpful to dress in layers. There will be a small area to store jackets and bags in the downstairs cabin.
Depending on the wind, the boat can sway from side to side, wear flat heels (not high heels).
For some reason, people get really hungry when they sail. We suggest eating a full meal before you arrive. We'll have snacks on the boat but most people appreciate something more substantial.
PLEASE ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO PARK AT THE PIER. It's Summer so there are tourists, and parking & traffic are heavier than usual.

WHAT TO BRING:
Warm jacket (even if it's a warm day, bring a jacket - the wind makes it cold).
Bottle of wine, beer or soft drink
Sunglasses - nice to have
